ALEX

"ALEX" is an acronym for Alabama Learning Exchange. It is a web site designed and run by the Alabama Department of Education. It is a program created as a part of the states technology initiatives to aid teachers. According to ALEX's official website, http://alex.state.al.us, "Quality for Every Facet of Learning" is the slogan and commitment of the website.

The ALEX website offers teachers an opportunity to search other teachers and gain ideas. Teachers can create an account and have a person work space where teachers lesson plans and also save their own. The data base offers traditional subject areas and it also offers areas such as technology and driver education among other things. The website also has links to a countless number of links for not only teachers, but students and administrators as well. ALEX also offers professional learning and distance learning programs too.

I personally think that website is an excellent asset to teachers, administrators, and students. I think overall the ability for teachers to store their own lesson plans and also look through their peers lesson plans as well makes a greater asset to them than any one else. This website is a great idea by the Alabama Dept. of Education. I think technology is a tool that teachers should be able to greatly utilize and ALEX gives them one way to use modern technology for the benefit of them and their students.
